The Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion has set a world record for traveling well over 1500 miles on one tank of fuel.

That's right folks, a Volkswagen Passat Bluemotion has taken a world record-breaking: 1,527 miles on a single tank of fuel. The Guinness World Records organization has officially recognized this as a world-beating distance!

Driven on public roads in France and Britain by Sunday Times journalist Gavin Conway, the car averaged 45mph and 89.83mpg over 3 days. The Passat Bluemotion's official, combined economy figure is 64.2mpg (UK).

Volkswagen Builds Engine Plants in Mexico, US

Volkswagen is expanding their factory chain throughout th world. A major US assembly line, in Chattanooga Tenn, is producing thousands of cars per day, and is about to receive some help south of the border.

VW has announced it will build a new engine factory in Mexico. This plant will supply engines to its expanding North American production network.

Volkswagen Gets New US Chief

Jonathan Browning, a former higher-up at General Motors and Ford, was named chief at the Volkswagen Group of America on Monday. Browning hopes to lead the company as it moves to improve US sales.

Browning, who handles the Volkswagen Group's national sales companies, will become president and chief executive effective Oct. 1 2010.

Volkswagen Passat Facelift, Specs Leaked

Volkswagen has been keeping its Passat facelift for 2011 under wraps for a while now. But it appears  that a new alleged photo of 2011's Volkswagen Passat has surfaced on the website of Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet. The paper has sourced the photo directly to VW, handed to the paper by a distributor in Norway.

This supposed Passat image shows a car with new headlights that do away with the bulged design on the current Passat. The lenses look to be shaped slightly different than those seen in a previous leaked image.
