2012 Passat Gets the A+ at IIHS

The new 2012 Volkswagen Passat, now available in the Chicago, IL area at through Fletcher Jones Volkswagen, is claimed to be "...the highest common denominator...with more premium standard features than its competitors."1.

The new Passat passed the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests with A+ aptitude. Thanks to the new safety features on the Pasat, including the Intelligent Crash Response System, the tire pressure monitoring system, ABS with HBA, crash-optimized front end, and the electronic stability control it has also earned the distinguished title of IIHS Top Safety Pick.

The Volkswagen Passat sedan's performance in the roof strength portion of the test actually exceeded governmental roof strength standards by four-point-eight points! IIHS reports, "The roof of the Passat withstood a force equal to 6.3 times the car's weight..."2

The revamped 2012 Volkswagen Passat demonstrated similar outstanding performance achieving the top, "good" ratings in the IIHS front, side, rear and rollover crash tests.

Furthermore, this isn't the only time the Passat has been named an IIHS Top Safety Pick. The previous-gen 2009 and 2010 models also received safety accolades, confirming the fact that safety comes standard on Volkswagens.
