Introduction:
The second-generation 2011 Touareg is totally redesigned, with refreshed styling and Volkswagen's first production model to offer a supercharged gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain. The 2011 Touareg will also be offered with a 3.6L VR6 and a 3.0L TDI Clean Diesel Engine, both capable of sufficient power and fuel economy.
The 2011 model is 1.5 inches longer in wheelbase, 1.6 inches longer overall, and 0.5 inches wider than previous Touareg models. The Touareg is still considered a midsize crossover with seating for five, but those in back are particularly well served now, with more rear legroom and a backrest adjustable to three different positions.
For buyers considering a midsize luxury SUV, the 2011 Touareg has more room, more power and more sophistication to offer.

1. V6 FSI® - the 3.6L V6 is one of Volkswagen's most powerful engines, and it comes standard on the all-new Touareg with a brand-new eight-speed automatic transmission. With 280 hp and 265 lbs/ft of torque, combined with the 4MOTION® all-wheel-drive system and double wishbone front and a rear independent steel spring suspension, the V6 turns the gas pedal into a gift that keeps on giving.
2. TDI® Clean Diesel engine - the all-new Touareg TDI® may be an SUV, but it runs on ultra-low-sulfur diesel with 95 percent less sulfur content. Which helps reduce sooty emissions by up to 90 percent compared to previous diesel engines. It also has 225 hp and 406 lbs/ft of torque for exceptional power off the line and plenty of speed to help keep you going. Also, stop looking out for gas stations because the TDI engine also gets up to 728 miles on just one tank of clean diesel.

V6 TSI Hybrid - World's first supercharged hybrid powertrain - not only does the all-new Touareg have the world's first supercharged hybrid powertrain, but it packs a powerful punch with a combined output of 380 hp and 425 lbs/ft of torque. And when it's traveling at Autobahn speeds, the engine can switch off and the all-new Touareg can coast without using fuel (optional). Which is what the Volkswagen engineers call "coasting", and what the planet calls "breathing easier".

So the world that you see ahead of you is replicated right in the full-color display in the dash, helping make it easier to navigate your way to your next destination. On the all-new hybrid Touareg, the navigation system also includes an onscreen display of hybrid system information that helps you monitor your energy usage, driving range, and battery percentage.
Keyless access with push-button start (optional) - the days of locking your keys in the car are over thanks to the optional keyless access with push-button start feature. With your keys in your pocket or purse, your doors will automatically unlock as you touch the driver's side door handle. Then, once you're inside, a simple press of the start button turns on the ignition so you can drive off on your next adventure.
